Thank you for your interest in the Sea, Air and Land Challenge program – an introduction to engineering for high school students through the use of robotics.  Teams of students work at their schools or organizations during the semester and then come together near the end of the semester on Challenge Day.  During this one day event, students learn about careers in STEM and showcase their robotic systems in challenge missions which mimic those encountered by the military and first responders.  Volunteers, who have an interest in technology, judge the ability of the team and their robotic system to complete the missions in either the Sea Challenge, the Air Challenge or the Land Challenge.

To be a judge, you only need to want to work with students and have an appreciation for technology, programming or engineering.  You do not need to be an engineer.

The document, Survival Guide for Judges, can be found at: https://seaairland.psu.edusecure/.  (Please request the password from your regional coordinator.)  The information contained in the Guide  is designed to help you prepare as a Judge for Challenge Day.  It is intended to offer background information that will be useful to review prior to the event.  We hope your experience as a Judge for this program is rewarding and enjoyable and we thank you for your time and commitment!
