Educator Checklist (Fall Semester)
- Determine your Region and register your school or club online
- Form the teams and have each team choose their Challenge (sea, air or land)
- Register teams online – each team member must register
- Recruit a volunteer university or industry (engineering) mentor(s) with technical expertise
- $500 is the maximum budget for supplies and each team is required to raise or acquire their funding
- Classroom with space to design and build
- Access to tools
- Block off time in January through April to design and build (estimated minimum commitment of 2 hours per week for 12 weeks)
Educator Checklist (Spring Semester)
- Ensure team meetings are scheduled and a team structure is established which encourages full participation
- Suggest the following team leads are established:
- Team Manager to ensure objectives are set and completed.
- Finance Chairperson to follow up with fundraising efforts and team budget preparations.
- Purchasing Chairperson for supplies acquisition
- Build Lead to coordinate robotic system build
- Programming Lead to coordinate coding of the robotic system
- Ensure participation safety at all times
- Make teams aware of the Preliminary Design Review (PDR) due date provided by Regional Coordinator
- Allow time for team testing of robotics prior to Challenge Day
- Attend Challenge Day with team(s)
Sea, Air and Land Team Structure
Teams should be made up of 3 to 10 high school aged students and are required to assign at least one educator and one engineering mentor. School districts or clubs can enter as many teams as they wish. Home-schooled teams, cyber schooled teams and organizations are welcome.
